About OFUR:

The Ontario Federation of Union Retirees (O.F.U.R.) evolved from a chapter of the Canadian Congress of Retirees which was chartered by the C.L.C. in the mid 1980's.
O.F.U.R. is dedicated to the proposition that Ontario retirees, as free citizens are entitled to secure and protect their mutual welfare and that of their families by all legitimate means.
Inherent in this proposition is the attainment of it's economic, social and legislative objectives through the organization of Ontario retirees from free trade unions, and it will at all times hold true to the high ideals and principals of social justice on which the Labour movement was founded.
A wide range of Union Retiree's Clubs representing thousands of Retirees are affiliated to O.F.U.R.

The recent convention of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) held in May 2008 adopted many positions that could, if adopted, bring change at the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal levels.
In this time of increased corporate power, hostile media, anti-labour politicians and governments, the CLC along with its affiliates will continue to build Labour's political activison and heighten efforts to influence the broader community.
The CLC and it's affiliates must increase the desire of union members, union retirees and their families to be part of something that engages them and ultimately creates a more equitable and just Canada.
In order to achieve these objectives the CLC and its affiliated unions and retirees will continue to build political capacity among our memberships and communities in the following ways:
  1. co-ordinating and following up on issues, campaigns and the legislation agenda.
  2. Providing support to continue building the New Democratic Party of Canada and working with the Party to improve its electoral successes.
  3. Continue to assist the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada(CURC) and other retiree's organizations to play a major role in bringing about real change.
I invite you, if you are not already a part of the Ontario Federation of Union Retirees (OFUR), to join our movement. via the affiliation forms available on this web site, and thus become a part of uniting for a change that Canadians expect and deserve. If applying as an Organization please use this form

Sincerely,
